Shri Shirdi Sai Baba was first seen in Shirdi, a remote village in the Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra in the second half of 19th century and left his body on the 15th of October 1918. During the period of his stay in Shirdi, thousands of people flocked to this, otherwise unknown, village every year to meet Baba and find solution for their various mundane and spiritual needs. Baba, being the perfect personification of grace and love, served everyone who came to him, till he left his mortal body. Today the Samadhi (Tomb) of Shri Shirdi Sai Baba at Shirdi has become a place of world Pilgrimage. The exponential growth of the number and activities of Shirdi Sai Baba devotees and temples is phenomenal.
